Patients with COVID-19 are required by law to either register for a hospital bed, or isolate at home according to guidelines from the Ministry of Public Health. However, more than 80% of COVID-19 patients who have tested positive for the virus and reached out to healthcare authorities have not been contacted. There are many citizens who are still waiting for a hospital bed, and deserve basic medical supplies to support their recovery at home.

The COVID Care At-Home Toolkit by Taejai and Sabaidee Bot provides COVID-19 patients with medical supplies and guidance for swift at-home recovery, or to help alleviate symptoms until they manage to procure a hospital bed. 

COVID-19 Patients are unable to access hospital treatment, and lack the knowledge and tools to take care of themselves while waiting for a hospital bed.

Sabaidee Bot (@sabaideebot) is the official LINE chatbot of the Ministry of Public Health for COVID-19 patients to register for hospital beds. With the support of the National Innovation Agency, Sabaidee was developed by Opendream, ChangeFusion, and Rocket Media Lab in order to collect anonymous health symptom reports from citizens – and track early outbreaks of COVID-like illnesses. Sabaidee also provides COVID-19 self-care recommendations and allows people to monitor their own health.

Social Problems need Social Solutions

The Sabaidee team has heard from many COVID-19 patients that are still desperately waiting for health authorities to contact them, and don’t know what they should do at home to take care of themselves. 

The number of new COVID-19 cases reported every day is rising, and so too are the number of people reaching out via Sabaidee for help. 

Sabaidee Bot surveyed 5,061 COVID-19 patients in the past 7 days and found that of the 1,273 respondents:

• 1,045 people, or 82.1%, have not been contacted or taken care of by the responsible health agency.
• 1,001 people, or 78.65%, need first aid from the public health system
• 995 people, or 78.25%, need primary care.

Taejai.com and Sabaidee have partnered to create 500 COVID Care At-Home Toolkits for COVID-19 patients who have requested help from responsible agencies, but are unfortunately still waiting at home isolated without help. All of the requests are tracked via Sabaidee Bot, and if a user is confirmed to be a positive COVID-19 patient, they will be sent a care package containing the following:

1. 1 thermometer
2. Fingertip oxygen meter (Pulse-Oxy Meter) 1 unit
3. 10 masks (already delivered)
4. Paracetamol antipyretic 30 tablets
5. Andrographis Paniculata 100 tablets
6. Sore throat lozenges 30 tablets
7. 100 ml of alcohol gel (already delivered)
8. Mineral salt 10 sachets
9. How to record symptoms and track recovery progress
10. COVID self-care guide
11. Contact information for urgent medical assistance

The COVID Care At-Home Toolkit will allow the patients to

1. Take care of early symptoms themselves until they are able to procure a hospital bed.
2. Keep a record of daily health information to aid medical staff once patients are able to enter the hospital.

Project Implementation Steps

1. Screen and review data submitted via Sabaidee Bot for COVID-19 patient bed registration.
2. Deliver COVID Care At-Home Toolkits to patients’ homes.
