Help Feed 50 Elderly and Crippled elephants

The Save the Elephant Foundation looks after 87 elephants, 50 of which are elderly or crippled. All of these elephants have been rescued from cruel and inhumane situations that threatened their lives and well-being, primarily in the tourism and illegal logging industries The Foundation enables these elephants to pass the rest of their lives in peace, in an environment supportive of their well-being. 

COVID-19 has had an impact on the welfare of these elephants, as well as that of several other big animals- rescued stray dogs, cats, cows, buffaloes, pigs, rabbits, old,crippled and injured horses and many other animals - 3,000 in total that are currently being cared for by the Foundation. The primary source of funds for the Foundation had been an elephant rescue and rehabilitation center (Elephant Nature Park) which ran programs for volunteering with and visiting the elephants. The Park has lost its main source of revenue as tourism is not possible during the COVID-19 crisis.

The elderly and crippled elephants in particular are not receiving sufficient food

Objectives of the project

1. Procure food for 50 elderly and crippled elephants during the COVID 19 crisis 
2. Procure 300 bags of supplemental food for these elephants for 8 months. 

Purpose of the project

1. Fifty elderly and crippled elephants under the care of the Save Elephant Foundation will receive sufficient food to maintain life during the COVID-19 crisis
2. Society mobilises to care for animals during times of crisis
