Dental Care Mobile Truck for children in the remote area under “Good Health Under Royal Graciousness” project

Fundamental problems of accessing dental care services for Thai children who will become the key person in driving the country's society and economy in the future could not access the service thoroughly. 

More than 80% of children in remote areas are found that they have oral health problems. Therefore, there is an urgent need for urgent solutions and integration of multi-sector cooperation to achieve maximum efficiency

In 2008, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Thailand (RMHC Thailand) together with Thai Red Cross Children Home, and Top Charoen, provides visual examination, customized eyeglasses and basic medical screening to children. The clinical mobile completed 99 trips screened 42,661 children and gave away more than 13,692 eyeglasses to those who found to have optical problems.  

In 2015, This hope-on-wheel has expanded reach to the needy children in rural areas throughout Thailand on the 2nd phase of Ronald McDonald Dental Care Unit : Good Health Under Royal Graciousness with cooperation of Thai Red Cross Children Home and Royal Thai Armed Forces, Royal Thai Army, Royal Thai Air Force, Royal Thai Navy, Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Dental Hospital, Private Dentist Foundation and RMHC Thailand to provide oral health screening and dental care service to underprivileged children in remoted areas. 

Inside the mobile unit, there is 1 dental bed and 4 units of field bed for dental treatment services: Sealant, Scaling, Fluoride coatings, fillings, tooth extractions, targeting children aged 8-18 years in remote areas. Over the past 6 years, more than 37,000 children in remoted areas in 56 provinces across the country were served and accessed to a comprehensive dental care for sustainable dental health.

Over the past 13 years, this mobile truck has driven to the remote areas across the country, from the northern to the southern, it is deteriorated and it is time to retire. RMHC Thailand, the project's provision of dental care mobile unit, needs to provide new truck trailer replacement to ensure smooth and safe dental service. We received some grant from the sponsor but it was not enough to cover expense.
